Lent Reflection - Day 3
Friday, February 27th, 2009Mark 1:15 - “Believe the Good News!” What is the Good News?
The Good News is that one has taken the punishment for our sins upon Himself so we can avoid an eternity in hell, separated from God, tortured and tormented. But is that it . . . only good news for eternity? What is the Good News for this life?
“Good News for the poor” - that one will provide for your needs and bring an end to your oppression.
“Good News for the prisoner” - you will not long be held captive but one has come who will set you free - from sin, from addiction and habits, from that which controls your life.
“Good News for the blind” or those with physical ailments - one has come to be your healer.
“Good News for the oppressed” - one has come who is stronger than the one oppressing you and will bring freedom.
The day of the Lord has come, so what is His word of Good News to You today?
(Luke 4:18)
